Privacy Policy

The short version

PauseIt helps you pause before you buy. To do that, we save the items you pause, send you a reminder email 24 hours later, and remember what you decided. We don't sell your data. We don't track your browsing. We only collect what we need to make the pause work.

What we collect

• Account info — your email address and (if you use email sign-up) a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
• Paused items — the retailer name, page title, price, and URL of items you pause at checkout.
• Purchase decisions — whether you chose to buy or skip a paused item, and when.
• Email activity — whether reminder emails were delivered and opened, so we can avoid sending duplicate reminders.

What we do not collect

• We do not track your general browsing history.
• We do not read page content outside of checkout pages.
• We do not collect payment card numbers or financial account details.
• We do not collect data from pages where the PauseIt modal does not appear.

How we use your data

• To save your paused items and show them in your dashboard.
• To send you a reminder email 24 hours after a pause so you can decide whether to buy or skip.
• To calculate how much money you've saved by skipping paused items.
• To keep your extension and web account in sync.

Third-party services

• Cloud database and authentication provider — stores your account and pause data securely. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
• Transactional email provider — delivers your 24-hour reminder emails.
• Google OAuth — optional sign-in method. If used, Google shares your name and email with us.
• Cloud hosting provider — hosts the PauseIt website and API.

We do not sell your data to any third party.

The Chrome extension

The PauseIt extension runs on all websites so it can detect checkout pages. It only activates — and only reads data — when it detects a checkout flow. Outside of checkout pages, the extension does not read, record, or transmit any information about what you are browsing.

Data retention and deletion

Your paused items and purchase history are kept until you delete your account. To request deletion of your data, email us at hello@pauseit.io and we will remove your account and all associated data within 30 days.
